Yacht-master
Rolex introduces the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master, a new 18ct Everose gold black version of the classic nautical watch, specially equipped with the patented Oysterflex strap developed by Rolex. This innovative design combines the robustness and reliability of a metal strap with the flexibility, comfort, and beauty of a rubber strap. The subtlety of the belt is that the inner layer is a super-stretch metal sheet, while the outer layer is injection-molded with high-performance black rubber.
The new Yacht-Master is available in a diameter of 40 mm and a new size of 37 mm. Its 18 ct Everose gold Oyster case features a rotating bezel with matte black Cerachrom ceramic inserts set against polished applied numerals.
Yacht-Master’s new Oysterflex strap, developed and patented by Rolex, can replace the sporty design of metal straps. Its sturdiness, reliability, and water resistance are not inferior to the former. The strap is flexible, beautiful, and comfortable, like a rubber strap, yet as durable as a metal strap. The strap is connected to the case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by elastic titanium-nickel alloy pieces. The high-performance black rubber covers the metal sheet, which is not easily affected under various environmental conditions. It is durable and very stable to wear. For added comfort, the Oysterflex strap has a patented longitudinal cushioning system that secures the watch on the wrist. The strap is also fitted with an 18ct Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp to prevent accidental opening of the clock.
The Yacht-Master rotating outer ring is fitted with a new black Cerachrom ceramic word ring, which fully expresses the essence of the Yacht-Master. The polished three-dimensional numerals and scales are particularly distinct on the matte word circle, allowing the wearer to skim the 60-minute timekeeping record. For the first time in this model, the black surface contrasts sharply with the Chromalight luminous hands and hour markers, which emit a long-lasting blue glow and are legible in both daylight and darkness.
The Yacht-Master’s Oyster case, guaranteed to be water-resistant to 100 meters, exemplifies robust elegance and perfect proportions. The mirror surface is made of blue crystal, which cannot easily be scratched. At 3 o’clock, there is a small convex window lens for easy reading of the calendar. The water-resistant Oyster case provides the best protection for high-precision movement.
The new 40mm Yacht-Master is equipped with Calibre 3135, while the 37mm version is equipped with Calibre 2236, both self-winding mechanical movements developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, calibers 3135 and 2236 are also certified by the Swiss Observatory, a certification awarded exclusively to precision watches that have been tested by the Swiss Chronometer Testing Center (COSC). Both structures ensure that the eye is ethical and highly reliable. In Caliber 3135, the heart of the watch – the balance-oscillation component –is equipped with a Rolex-patented blue Parachrom hairspring made of a unique alloy cast by Rolex. The Caliber 2236 is equipped with the new Syloxi silicon hairspring, introduced in 2014, which Rolex developed to provide exceptional timepiece performance. Both hairsprings are not disturbed by magnetic fields, remain highly stable even in the face of temperature changes, and their shock resistance is ten times higher than traditional hairsprings.
